The gaps in the concrete are wide enough for a bicycle tyre to drop into. They are on the intersection and in the path of a cyclist making a turn at the corner.
They can catch a wheel and cause the cyclist to fall.

Are you aware that in July roadworks in progress in Walkerville Terrace, Walkerville, included the blocking of a bicycle lane? See attached picture.
This squeeze point will create a safety hazard when cyclists are forced into the traffic lane to continue their journeys. This seems short sighted considering:
1. Road safety campaigns for vulnerable road users eg A Metre Matters and Fatal Five.
2. The increase in obesity related ill-health due to insufficient daily exercise.
3. Road congestion caused by motor vehicles
4. Sustainable transport of the bicycle can slow climate change. The average Australian household produces 14 tonnes of greenhouse emmissions per annum for transport. In Australian capital cities, up to 50% of trips are less than 5km, an easy cycling distance.
I recommend that you read further info on the website of the Cycling Promotion Fund, including how cycling is good for business.
Will Walkerville Council rectify this recent oversight of blocking a bicycle lane and increasing cycling hazards?

Hazard and accident - Stormwater drain in Aust Post Car park Brighton
The storm drain shown will allow any bicycle with road or hybrid tyres to fall into the grate.
I was entering the carpark with the intention to turn to the right of the drain and park next to the post boxes at the rear of the Post Office. To save the bike (and myself) from serious impact from the drain, I released the brakes, hopped the wheel, but then was not able to turn or stop in time for the kerb at the edge of the car park.
The drain pinched the tyre and tube, but hitting the kerb with a flat tyre is what did the damage to the rim.
The good news is I did not get injured. I was able to unclip, and like a rodeo rider, gracefully exit the mount over the headstem. The cost of repair will hurt though!
I will be reporting this to Aust Post, and if I am lucky get some compensation.

This Stormwater cover has been hazardous many times over the last 12 months, 25 times being reported by me.
Your inability to fix this cover effectively is a waste of ratepayers money.
The above point will certainly create the "Community Need" that Council require to take action.

Hazard - Service cover on corner
Hello
Please remove the hazard caused by the service cover on the corner of Cudmore and Partridge street, Glenelg. There are two locations on opposite sides of the roundabout. The attached photo only shows one of the two hazards.
These hazards were reported to Holdfast council 2 years ago but no action has been taken to remove the hazard.
These service covers are a hazard to cyclists. Impact may cause injury or a fall. Avoiding the hazard may cause collision with passing vehicles not expecting the bicycle to change direction.
Please also note that this is a bikeway AND is located next to a secondary school.

There are two potholes forming on Birdwood Tce.
One is East of Oval Tce.
The other is at the corner of Birdwood Close.
This road has had multiple reports (see http://roadrepair.blogspot.com/search?q=birdwood )
Also, a couple of years ago a pothole in the same location was the basis of a claim against council for costs. The council claimed it was not liable "in Tort".
In the event of an incident due to the road surface on Birwood Tce, a case of FACTUAL CAUSATION would see the City of West Torrens liable (overridding any excemption by state Government or an "in Tort" scenario).
I hope you see this information as saving the City of West Torrens money AND working towards a safer environment for cyclist, pedestrians and motorists.

20mm high, inoperative reflectors on edges of bike lanes
To the Office of Cycling and Walking...
Cc BikeSA and BISA
Along many bike lanes (for example Anzac Highway) there are many reflectors placed on, or near the white line.
The bike lane only applies for a couple of hours, so for most of the day, cyclists are moving in, and out of the lane, negotiating the reflectors that are as high as the height of their tyre.
If these extinct reflectors were of value to road safety it would be understandable, but 90% of them have been painted over, have car rubber over them, or worn off their relective surface.
There should be a prize for guessing the number of reflectors that do not work along the edge of the bike lane, yet are a 20mm high hazard to cyclists.
Please suggest how I can encourage the road authorities (both arterial and council roads) to remove this hazard.

Hazard - Tree overhang - Railway Tce - Cross Rd to Daws Road
To Marion Council council@marion.sa.gov.au
Hello
The trees and scrubs on the railway line side of Railway Tce, from Cross Rd to Daws Rd (Bikeway) overhang onto the road.
In many parts a cyclist is forced to ride more than 2 metres from the kerb.
Some spots are near intersections.
Passing vehicles do not expect a cyclist to change direction and move out into the road.
The risk of collision from a passing car, or at an intersection from a merging car is HIGH.
Please remove this hazard.
