To Unley Council
There is a sunken cover (50mm below road surface) in the bike lane on Cross road (heading West, 50mtrs East of Goodwood Rd).
I realise the road is the responsibility of the Dept of Transport, however the service cover is clearly embossed with the word "STORMWATER" (see photos and map attached).
This cover will cause a cyclist injury or fall if hit at speed. A cyclist avoiding the impact is at risk of being struck by a passing vehicle that would not expect the cyclist to change their line of travel.
If this is not your responsibility, PLEASE PASS on to the appropriate authority.
Please also advise me on who is responsible for this type of cover. This will prevent future emails to you if not appropriate.

I am responding to your email dated 17 August 2010 in relation to a hazard on Cross Road in the bike lane.
I advise as this is a main road it is the responsibility of DTEI. Please contact DTEI direct to report this hazard.
Thank you for your enquiry.

Telephoned DTEI on 1800 018 313 (road and traffic light report hotline)
They said it was a United Water responsibility (even though the cover clearly has STORMWATER embossed in it).
